Transferring Photos

Hi,
Can anyone inform me of an easy way of transferring my photos from my old mac to my new one? They are different versions of iPhoto, and the latest version has its photo library set out differently...

Cheers,
Alfie

Assuming that you have no photos in the iPhoto library on your new computer, connect the computers together (network or firewire target mode) quit iPhoto on both computers, drag the iPhoto library on the new computer from the pictures folder to the trash and drag the iPhoto library from the old computer to the pictures folder of the new computer and launch iPhoto - it will find and convert the library to the new database structure

I saw your reply below and it sounds like you know what you're doing. I have a MacBook Pro (G4, running leopard). I previously uploaded a number of photos on iPhoto while running panther OS.

I had to re-install Leopard recently and i'm in the process of transferring my photos back from an external drive back to my laptop butwhen i drag the library over i get a message that says the photos could not be transferred. I did notice in the external drive that there seems to be a data file associated with each photo folder. Is this part of the problem? It would seem odd that i now have to manually add each photo back.

Thanks for any assistance here.
