Problem with Viewsonic external screen

Hi everyone, I have the new MBP and miniDP > DVI cable, but nothing shows up on my external Viewsonic vx2035. The same combination works with other monitor, also the Viewsonic works with my old MBP... Any idea? Thanks.

I have the exact same problem with my Viewsonic VG2030wm 20" LCD. I've ruled out bad DVI cables. The Macbook Pro works with my 12" Cintiq's display, and the Viewsonic works with my Intel iMac, so the video out/mini displayport adaptor/dvi cable/viewsonic display are all operational. It's just the specific combination of the Macbook Pro and Viewsonic that doesn't work.

I'm looking forward to any solutions if anyone has any.

I'm getting no output to my vg2030m...tried shutdown/disconnect/restart/reconnect cables.
Anyone have an idea how to fix??
I know the adaptor is good, cause I was able to connect to another viewsonic external dvi (19")...and I know the 20" monitor is good, cause I can connect w/ another MBP. But not the new late 2008 model

It's definitely not all viewsonic, since the other monitor I can connect on is viewsonic (19", not 20") . Spoke w/ apple, they said try zapping pram and resetting SMC. Neither of which did anything. I also tried trashing display prefs, and switching from hi to lo graphics mode... Monitor works fine with my old MBP. very buggy.

My next guess would be the miniDP-DVI adapter. Can you ask them to swap it for another one so you can see if you got a lemon? Since there seem to be others with the same problem, I doubt this is the case, but worth a try. Could be an engineering flaw with the adapter, which could mean an eventual recall by Apple.

One absurd "solution" in the meantime would be to trade the miniDP-DVI adapter for a miniDP-VGA adapter, and use a VGA-DVI adapter to plug that into your monitor. Silly, I know, but better than buying another monitor.

I am having this issue as well. I have three Viewsonic VX2235 monitors. Two work and 1 does not. The two that work can work with my MBP 15" and with my Mac Pro. The one that doesn't can't work with either Mac. But it does work with my IBM Laptop. The bad monitor does work via VGA but that's not ideal.

Apparently quality control is lacking since 2 out of 3 work.

Need to return the monitor and get it replaced unless someone else has a better idea.

I'm having a similar problem with my Cintiq. I've been dealing with both Apple and Wacom to address the issue and it looks like a compatability problem.

The reason I'm writing on this thread is that, as I was talking to the Wacom guy, I mentioned the Viewsonic issue I'd read about here. After a bit of silence, he told me that both Wacom and Viewsonic buy their lcd's from the same manufacturer. This would suggest an incompatibility issue that relates specifically to the brand of lcd.

Anyway, I hope this get's sorted out soon, as I would love to be able to repurchase the MBP I just returned due to this issue.
