How Can I disable Screen Zoom on new MacBook?

I am not sure what everyone is talking about but in the Keyboard shortcut guide I saw that command-option-8 turns on or off screen zooming. I'm not sure if this is the screen zooming you all are referring to but I thought I'd just throw that out there.

That only controls zooming of the desktop icons. It has no effect on zooming within applications as far as I can tell.

Thank you, though. I've never opened the Finder's preferences before. Lots of cool stuff to do there.

I just got a new MB and noticed the same thing.
If you go to System Preferences> Keyboard & Mouse> Keyboard Shortcuts, than look under Universal Access. Right under UA is option to 'Turn zoom on or off'; I unchecked that and it fixed it for me.

I can still zoom in and out by holding 'Command' and '+' or '-'.

Seems some of you are getting confused with screen zooming and text zooming.
I'm having this issue too, where a two finger pinch in safari will decrease the size of the text (not zoom the screen)
I believe this is the issue which needs to be resolved and not to fix the screen zoom which is achieved by holding 'ctrl' with two finger scrolling etc.

I have Firefox 3.0.5 and I don't have the problem with Firefox. Is this the same version your running or are you using a different version? If I can reproduce it I can most like include a fix for it as well.

Unhappily, this zooming problem due to involuntary "pinching", which already happened to me with Safari 3, is much worse on Safari 4. The Zoom in/out feature in S4 is by some buggy reason much faster and it is quite hard to set the right zoom to the desired setting by pinching.

Yes, I also had a black MacBook with a separate button, and yes, I use a lot my thumb for clicking. I can retrain myself to avoid thumb clicking, but it is hard to understand how there is not an option to turn off the feature in Safari preferences (as it happens in the finder, for example).

Last but not least, I tried Jeff Hawkins add-on (thanks a lot, Jeff) but it seems to not work on Safari 4. Unhappily, I did not tried it before on Safari 3, so I am not sure if this is a specific configuration problem on mine or a result of Safari 4. Anybody else noticed this? Thank in advance.

I've had my new macbook pro for a couple of days now, and this is the only gripe I have.

It seemed to me impossible that there was no option to turn off pinch recognition in safari... I mean, why would there be the option for enabling/disabling of resizing icons by pinch gesture in finder (something that I've never done and I'm quite sure a great majority don't either), and not for Safari?

To me it seems like a serious oversight by the testing people involved. Not having got a fix out by now makes me suspect that this could be another issue of the 'cut and paste on the iphone priority' kind...

Worked like a charm for getting rid of the pinch in Safari.

system pref -> keyboard and mouse -> trackpad--> zoom

I guess someone needs to come up with a Terminal command

I am having the same problem... it ***** tu use safari this way since i accidentally zoom in and out all the time... there should be an option to stop safari from recognizing the pinch gesture

Hello. Would this thread be referring to the system settings universal access? The first tab of this preference pane has a zoom on or off selection. Just a suggestion. :P

We complain about the pinch feature in Safari... im used to click with my thumb and some times i lay it over the trackpad to rest and safari thinks im doing a pinch gesture and increses the font size
