iphone contacts during 2.1 upgrade

In doing the iphone 2.1 update some of my contact got deleted. I did not notice when exactly it happend but i noticed it after i hasd already turned mobileme.

my iphone is missing some contacts, any idea how to recover the latest version of contats i had on the iphone?
