iSight not working

Hi All,

I am new to MAC and I had been using isight built in camera for Video chat both on ichat as well as on yahoo messenger and stuff like that. But lately I am not able to use the camera as it is not being recognized by any of these applications. I have tried all the support procedures Given in the support article by Apple and even installed the latest update of OSX again.

Recently one of my friend has used my Mac for a day and he was saying he deleted some thing by name isight in the applications or utilities folder by mistake.

Is there a way I can make my camera to work again.

Thanks in Advance

MacBookPro4,1, Mac OS X (10.5.5), 2.4 GHZ processor, 4GB RAM

There are no iSight applications in the Applications or Utility folder. So I have no idea what your friend deleted.

Set up a new account to see if the same problems shows up there. To do this go the System Preferences/Accounts/Password

Unlock the padlock. At the bottom of the left column click on the "+" sign.
Name the account "test" (without the quotation marks).
Set up a password
Click the "Create Account" button.
Lock the padlock.
Restart the computer & go into the test account.

Have you tried repairing your disk directly from your install disc? To use the Install Mac OS X disc, insert the disc, and restart your computer while holding down the C key as it starts up.
Select your language.
Once on the desktop, select Utility in the menu bar.
Select Disk Utility.

Select the disk or volume in the list of disks and volumes, and then click First Aid.
Click Repair Disk.

I guess you already went the resetting your SMU & PRAM route?

Since you tried all of Apple's solution, call Apple for assistance if you are still under warranty or have Apple Care.

What is it you're not sure about. You previously stated
I've been through everything except the "repair disk" procedure which I will try tonight.

Afterwards repair permissions & restart your computer when done.

Incidentally, you are using an outdated os system. Tiger is now up to 10.4.11 with many other updates through Software Update. You should consider updating. May eliminate your issues.
