uneven track pad?

I noticed my new macbook has was seems to be an uneven trackpad.
The left side is flush with the case.
The top and right side is sunk in about a millimeter.
If you run your finger across the left side it's smooth- across the right and you feel the edge.

Tried to return it to the Apple store and it was a no go.
They tell me it's normal. I told them I bought two macbooks last week and the trackpad on the other one is perfectly flush.
Then they told me due to the fact that the trackpad is one big piece- the size of each will be different and not all will sit right. They told me they had two others in the back that looked mine.
(I assume those were returns.) It's funny that all ten of the display model were perfect as well.

My guess is this might be a widespread manufacturing flaw. (They basically admitted this)
And if you get stuck with an uneven trackpad it's just bad luck.

SO their logic goes like this? "We have multiple machines with the same defect. Ergo, we aren't going to swap out your defective machine. Your $1,300 doesn't buy a proper fit and finish. You are being too picky, sir".

Is that the gist of their attitude? With an attitude like theirs, I'd be developing a major attitude of my own! I'd get satisfaction one way or the other. IF you paid by credit card you could contact them for reversal of the charges until this is hashed out properly, in which case I expect the result will be you will get a properly assembled MB.

Keep us posted, please.

I agree also. My girlfriend bought a macbook last year and it had an issue with the plastic in the bottom corner of the display lid sticking up by about a millimeter. It was making an annoying click as it touched the top of the case as the lid opened. Took it to the Apple store and BOOM, new macbook on the spot. And she had purchased online with a credit card. When you spend that much money, you should be completely satisfied.

The Apple genius even said something to the effect of "yeah, this isn't something that would concern me about the structural integrity of the computer, but if you aren't satisfied, and because it is a defect, you are entitled to swap it out within 14 days"
