cannot open iPhoto

cannot open iPhoto

Ever since I downloaded Leopard I cannot open my iPhoto.
I get this message.

You cannot use this version of the application iPhoto with this version of Mac OSX.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have tried everything, I even met with a genus at the apple store. Nothing....

powerbook g4, Mac OS X (10.5)

You cannot use this version of the application iPhoto with this version of Mac OSX.

You don't specify which version of iPhoto you are using, but I suspect it is iPhoto 2 which, as the alert dialog confirms, does not work with OS X 10.5.x (Leopard).

I cannot even open the iPhoto icon, how can I find out what version I am using. I believe I am using iPhoto 2. My husband purchased Leopard the day it came out a long with a new mac for himself. I would guess when he downloaded into my powerbook he did not read the alert dialog....
Anything I can do to fix this or am I stuck? I have pictures in a million different files and would like to put them in one location.

I finally spent some time and found my version of iPhoto.

iPhoto:

Version: 2.0.1

Location: /Applications/iPhoto.app

So, now am I stuck without iPhoto forever?

No, you’ll just need to upgrade to a later version. Any version from v4 on will run on 10.5

That was what I thought.
Any suggestions on which one I should use? When I checked them out looks like quite a lot since I bought my powerbook.

To upgrade, you'll have to buy the iLife '08 or iLife '06 install disc. Those free downloads are only the updates to the software, which you must first purchase and install.

iPhoto is only available as part of an iLife package.

Well, mine is version 2 so if I understood your post I still need to BUY something to upgrade just so that I can get into my already owned old iPhoto.

Nevertheless to run iPhoto on 10.5 you need v4 or later and that requires a purchase. Mind you, you’ve not done too bad. You’ve had that free version of iPhoto for 5 years.
