Applecare Transfer

I've searched the forums on this: could'nt find an answer.

I'm selling my MBP which has Applecare through the end of 2009(I have the official certificate from Apple showing the coverage). I bought the Applecare off of EBay and still have the original email showing the purchase.

I will of course fill out the registration/Applecare transfer information with the new owners name/address and will include the Applecare certificate.

My question: Will I have problems transferring the Applecare without having a receipt from an authorized Apple Reseller?

OR

Can the buyer just call up Apple Registration with the Applecare Certificate to have the info transferred to his/her name?

You need to speak to AppleCare. And yes, I believe you will need some sort of receipt of purchase. But rather than speculate speak to them. There is a form to be filled out as well.

I’ve transferred several Applecare agreements and have informed Apple via letter. In accordance with paragraph 6 of the AppleCare Protection Plan Terms and Conditions you must provide the plan agreement number; the serial number of the covered equipment; proof of purchase of the Plan; and, the new Owner information.

I see no reason why an EBay email confirmation of sale of AppleCare wouldn’t be a perfectly valid proof of purchase of the Plan.

6. Transfer of Plan

You may transfer this Plan to a new owner of the Covered Equipment by sending, faxing or e-mailing notice of transfer to Apple Inc., ATTN: Agreement Administration, MS: 217AC, 2511 Laguna Blvd, Elk Grove, CA 95758, U.S., fax number 916-399-7337 or agmts_transfer@apple.com, respectively. You must provide the Plan Agreement Number, the serial numbers of the Covered Equipment being transferred, proof of purchase of the Plan, and the name, address, telephone number and email address of the new owner.

I have purchased a MACBOOK and am thinking of purchasing the AppleCare from someone on EBay. Would you recommend purchasing AppleCare on Ebay? Would there be any problems by purchasing AppleCare on EBay? Thanks
