Need serial number for DVD Studio Pro 2

Experienced a hard drive crash during a recent move and am trying to re-install DVDSP2. I have the original DVD installation disk and owners manual but the manual containing the serial numbers was apparently thrown away.
So my question is, are software serial numbers stored somewhere on the old hard drive and can they be accessed at this time (I used Data Rescue II and saved all the files to an external hard drive).
I understand that Apple could send the serial number if I would supply a copy of the original invoice, but the local Compusa store (Where the software was purchased) closed last year. Any other suggestions would be great as I have a 6 hour wedding video to complete. Thank you.

The encrypted serial # is in a file called "DVD Studio Pro System ID" located at: HardDrive/Library/Application Support/Pro Apps.

Thanks for your reply. I did navigate over to Pro Apps on the external drive, but when I clicked on DVDSP2, Final Cut Express HD opened and displayed its serial number instead. After a couple more attempts, I decided to browse some other applications and files and found the Software Update Log. After reading over three pages I realized just how many different software and firmware updates had been performed since purchasing the computer in November of 2003. It made me think that I should copy ALL the applications and files on the external drive back to the internal hard drive. I had tried this method right after I re-formated the internal drive and installed Panther 10.3.9. I expected the desktop, dock and all other files to restore themselves in the same configuration as the original but it did not work. What am I doing wrong and will I still have to re-install each software package individually along with the serial number for each? Thanks for your input.

Copying from the external will only work for simple applications that use a drag and drop installation.

Final Cut Studio places lots of files in the System folder and in other folders which are normally hidden from the user.

The most reliable way is to reinstall the Mac OS, do all system updates and then FCS on top. Run Software update again to get FCS up to the latest version.

If your external works without problems and you can boot from it, Carbon Copy Cloner can copy your external to the internal drive and it will work as it should. http://www.bombich.com/software/ccc.html

Otherwise you are looking at a complete reinstall of everything.
