iTunes doesn't work on Dell computer???

I have two desktop computers in my home, one is a Compaq which I use to download and play iTunes items, and the other is a Dell which I use for other things.

I would like to authorize my Dell computer to run my purchased items from iTunes, but I cannot get iTunes to even run on the Dell computer.

Why???

A friend of mine has told me that he knows several people that have Dell computers that won't allow iTunes to run.

How can I authorize my Dell computer to run my iTunes purchases if I can't even run the program on the computer to start with???????

Compaq/Dell, Windows XP, Own 2 Desktop computers, Compaq and Dell

Perhaps if you posted some useful information, it would help get an answer?
Which Dell?
Which OS and service packs? 32 bit or 64 bit?
Does iTunessetup.exe download to the Dell OK?
Does it install?
What happens when you try and run iTunes after it is installed?
Do you receive any error messages or any messages at all?
Does it look like it installs/runs?
