Sony SRW-5800???

Does anyone know how to change the format for playback and recording on a Sony SRW-5800 HDCAM deck???? I can't seem to find any "HOW TO" about this deck! .. Only "What it CAN do!" GAR! And the manual is NOT user friendly.

It's the same as the 5500. You have to get into the System Menu. On a deck fresh out of the box, it may be a bit difficult because it's a deep menu. What I would do is create a Function Preset on the Home page. Here's how.

Hit the Set Up button. Hit PF Assign (F4). From the PF Menu, hit the page button (F1) until the category reads HOME (second box) and use the arrow keys to make sure it's active (it'll be outlined). Use the arrow keys or multi-knob to select a function key that has no function assigned to it (F9 or F10 works great). Then use the arrow keys to activate the VTR setup menu to the right and then scroll down to item K25: System Menu. Hit the center key (between the arrow keys) to assign. Hit F10 to save.

Hit the Home key and now you'll see System Menu available on F9 (or wherever you put it). Go to your system menu and make the appropriate changes.
