HD error: 4HDD/11/40000004:SATA(0,0)

Hey guys,

I've had my iMac (20" Intel, 2GB RAM, 250GB HD) for about 6 months and recently it has been VERY slow and freezing often. I did an Archive/Restore of the OS (from 10.5.5 to the original 10.5 when I bought it), but it is still freezing. I was about to do an Erase/Restore to eliminate the possibility of some malicious software that I might have accidentally downloaded, but thought to do a Hardware Test first. The quick test showed no problems...but when I ran the extended test, it came up with the following hardware error:

4HDD/11/40000004:SATA(0,0)

What does this mean? Is my HD corrupted? Should I bring it Apple to fix?

Thanks for your help!

Jeff

have you had any resolution yet? i'm experiencing nearly the exact same thing. i was seeing the beach ball entirely too often, programs were locking up, then when i restarted it took a long time to boot, then it wouldn't finish booting into os x. i used the install disc to get to a terminal and cp'd everything i could from my user folder to my external hd. i got a bunch of "input/output errors" so i lost a lot of files. i then reinstalled OSX, first trying to archive and restore, which failed, and then reinstalled from scratch. this helped, but i'm still having a lot of lockups.
