How to use curl in Terminal to start then resume download

Hi, Would someone please explain step by step how to use the curl commands in Terminal to start a download of a file (see url below, it's for OS 10.5.5 update) that I can resume the next day after a disconnect in between. What is the command to start the download, how do I stop it, then how do I restart it?

Not sure what you mean by "you can man curl"?

I had found that web page you mentioned, but it is not very helpful or intuitive to use for a beginner like me. I still don't know from that what is the first command, then what is the resume, etc.
