Panasonic HDC-HS9 problems. PLEASE help!!

Hello

I've just bought a shinny new Panasonic HDC-HS9, to go with my brand new (bought today) Final Cut Studio 2 (Final Cut 6.0.1). I am trying to connect my camera to my Power PC G5 and haven't got a clue what format I need to set FCP6 to capture images etc...now wishing I'd stuck to my safe Firewire DV.

Any help would be more than welcomed before I have a break down

AVCHD imports only work with Intel Macs.

You have two choices:

Voltaic HD will convert, but is slow: http://www.shedworx.com/volmac-home

So will Toast 9 - Much faster with MTS files.

Just got Toast 9 and I can now at least play my AVCHD files!!! Though when I transfer them to FCP6 they seem a bit grainy. Can you recommend what's best to convert the files into and what settings I should have my FCP please?

My video files are shot in H.264/AVC 1920x1080, 25fps with Dolby Digital 5.1

It depends on what codec you have transferred or transcoded them to?

Which did you choose?

For example, I usually have tested with a transcode to DVCProHD

Thanks again, I'm converting the MTS files in Toast 9 to DVC PRO HD 1080i60 1280x720, and have set my FCP6 to the DVC PRO HD set up and all seems fine.
