Audio Loop doesn't play when added to arrangement

Hi,
I've had this problem for a while and even found an old post of mine on it (Oops, I didn't follow that one up like I should have). I'm trying to use a blue-tagged drum loop (blue is audio/green is midi etc, right?).

It plays fine when I sample it in the list of drum loops, but when I drag it into the arrangement window where my other tracks are, the number of measures (say, 8) shows up and there IS even a wave form there, but it won't play. No sound at all.

Now, I have tried dragging the loop into a clear space of the arrangement in order to have it make its own track and I have also tried creating a 'software instrument' track ahead of time and then dragging the loop there. Neither works.

I know this can often be solved by creating a new file and that this file may be corrupted, but this happens A LOT. They can't ALL be corrupted, can they?

If you are kind enough to respond, please be as specific as you can. I'm still a little new to Logic.

I found the solution to this through phone support. Seems that the "plist" file for Logic gets corrupted. Exit Logic completely, find the preferences file for the program ("plist"), then delete it. Relaunch the program, and it should work.

If you're trying to play a blue Apple loop (Audio) on a Software Instrument track you can try forever without hearing anything. Please place those blue loops an an Audio track and I'm sure you'll hear something then.

Thank you for replying. That covers one piece of what I tried. In fact, dragging the loop to make it's own track (I mentioned trying this in my initial post) creates an Audio track and I'm still hearing no sound.

Just to be sure, I've created a standard audio track - I tried both mono and stereo - and I still get no sound.

Just to reiterate - the wave form IS there. It's probably something stupid and obvious, but I'm still stuck.

Have you saved your project?
If not, try doing so as this sets the record path. I don't really use the loops but AFAIK they will not play from the arrange window unless the project has been saved.

Thanks Roger, I think Logic has me save the file from the get-go, but with audio data added, maybe saving it again would work.

I ended up starting a new file. That always seems to work but I'll try your suggestion from now on.

I have the exact same problem. I can play Apple Loops and Jam Packs through my media browser BUT when I add them to my arrange window they don't play. I have a project that I created before I upgraded to Leopard, and that plays the loops I added to it, but if I try to add anything else that old project it doesn't play. I've tried reinstalling the Jam Packs, but I still have the same problem. Has anyone found a fix for this?
