No, it's not safe. Limewire is a major distribution method for malware, and though there's not a lot thus far for Macs, there are a few rather destructive trojan horse programs.

Then live without it or restrict yourself to tracks that have been released into the public domain or otherwise legally made available for free, as with the weekly free tracks on the iTunes Store. Stealing music tracks because you can't afford to buy them is no more justifiable than would be stealing a car because you can't afford to buy one.

i am a newer mac user and was told that macs don't get virus's or anything. but you mentioned the trojan horses; is there any protection from these Trojan horse programs? any tips? know any place to get them?
