Keyboard Key Pops Off :(

Question

Keyboard Key Pops Off :(

Just got a custom configured MacBook Pro 15 inch and after typing on the "<" key for a bit, it pops off to one side. I push it down and it clicks in and then is OK, until it pops off again.

Not sure if I can post images here, so here is a link to the problem.

Anyone else have this happen. A little disappointed.

MacBook Pro, 2.8ghz, Mac OS X (10.5.5)

cant say ive had this problem on this keyboard. Usually if it happens you pop it in and its good. Maybe you gotta a bad key clip or something. If it keeps popping off you may want to try to exchange it unfortunately.

My brand-new MBP had a similar problem right out of the box: the T key was not installed correctly and was very hard to press. I managed to push it into place with some force and it seems fine now. Not a big problem, but clearly not something that should happen on a high-end machine.

I got the new MacBook (Late 2008) and the "e" key is popping off in the same manner. If I hit the key just a little bit off-center, it pops off. I can push it back and it will work until the next time.

MB had to be sent to depot for repair. 7-10 days wait 😟

Hi an apple tech told me that apple was in the process of fixing this problem, apparently the 17inch uni body has a slightly different key board construction... he also said he couldnt tell me any more.... can anybody confirm this? thanks

hi again... sorry to confuse the question..... my mac is perfect I'm just curious if anyone knows of a new different key board construction since the first uni bodys? just curious really. so if anyone knows of and take-aparts which compare the two that would be great 🙂

Take it to an Apple Store. They will replace it on the spot, as per the thread that I have noted herein.

Yes, I can pop it back in, but if I press the key off center, it can pop out again.

I think i have the same problem. it's with my v key tho. could someone help? this is a touch frustrating. it's on my aluminum macbook tho, not mbp.

Me too. My brand new MBP and the 'O' key keeps popping off. It goes back in but it is a bit annoying, not to mention disappointing.

hey me again.... i just read that the very first 15inch mbp had flat keys while the newer ones have slightly curved keys... can any body confirm this?
