Go into Phone --> Recents, then just press the number of the last dialed call. I really do not know of a mobile phone with a "redial" button like on a landline.
Well the mute button is right there on the screen you you are on a call, it could not be any easier.
As to redial, my other phone you pressed the green key, then it took you to the recently called list. That's pretty much what the iPhone does. Maybe the iPhone takes me one or two seconds longer, but it's certainly not an inconvience!
I don't know if I have owned a phone that had a dedicated redial button or option. I always just went a selected the person's name in the call log to call back.
Most phones redial if you press twice the green call button - first press opens call log, second press calls top entry.
On iPhone I wish it was possible to assign double Home button press to Recents tab in Phone app. Currently you can assign it to either open Favorites tab in Phone app or iPod app. Why just those two? I think Apple in next revisions should allow to assign double-Home to anything, say, SMS or whatever.
I understand Apple's culture of elegant simplicity (that sometimes borders on being just primitive) but truly they need to allow for more customization on iPhone.
If you press "Call" from the keypad, the most recently dialed number appears at the top. Press "Call" once more, and it redials. So you just need to press the "Call" button twice.

I've never had a phone that could do that.
Palm Treo, Samsung Blackjack, cheap LG **515 and almost each and every modern LG and Samsung. But then again if Tamara herself didn't have such a phone then it all doesn't matter 🙂
