firmware update for superdrive MATSHITA DVD-R UJ-815

Dear All,

I got a second hand powerbook G4 15-inch Titanium and found the superdrive has a firmware version of D0C4. I have read on the internet that it may be worthwhile to upgrade to a later version on D0CB and boost the burn speed to 16X CD-R and 2X DVD-R. But there are conflicting reports as well.

Has anyone in this forum got experience about this update and found it worthwhile/worthless? And where exactly can I locate the firmware update file? It is no longer available from the dantz ftp site.

Thanks in advance.

I suggest you do this.
Go to Google and type in Matshita UJ-815, look for Firmware updates.
Go up to your Blue Apple upper left and select Software Update, and download any software updates your computer needs.
Be sure you use top of the line Media, don't use cheap bargin basement media, they only cause problems.
Don't forget to Verify and Repair Permissions. Restart your computer and you should be good.
