I think you need to "clean out" your son as well.

Sig, that is an unfair statement. You are one of the most helpful members here, but that is uncalled for. He's human. He's curious.

I am sure that you have done a little XXX searching yourself.

Heck, you are probably doing it right now!

Next time, enable a blocking feature - and give the boy a break!

Kieran N,

I'm not disputing the OP's son is not human. And no, I do not do XXX searching. From you that's more than ludicrous. What I suggested to the OP is that he have controls on his MBP so his son (we can only assume less than adult age) does not get exposed to internet stuff that is not appropriate. I don't see any thing wrong with that suggestion. And, if the OP felt I was out of turn then it should come from the OP. Then I will discuss the rationale for my post.

Another place to clear out is your cookies. In Safari, go to preferences, click security, and show cookies. Delete the ones that were surely deposited in the computer by the XXX sites. You may want to set up separate accounts on your mac--password protect yours, and make one for your son with parental controls on it. OTOH, I had a talk with my son and then let him do what he wanted. So far as I know, he has healthy relationships and avoids barnyard animals, so either my talk worked or *********** does not cause evil behavior...

Many XXX websites will install malware on your computer. The day when Macs were not susceptible to this kind of stuff are over. There is the now famous DNS stealing Trojan that some Mac users have allowed to be installed on their computers. Read this:

http://www.macnn.com/articles/07/10/31/new.trojan.targets.macs/

Using Limewire, viewing XXX videos which ask the user to install a special codec, etc are all ways for trojans to infect Macs.

If you are letting your son use the computer as an administrator you are really asking for problems.

Check your DNS for numbers starting with 85. That's important.
Get some good nanny-ware and install it. Never let anyone know the passwords to the nanny account and the administrator account. Change them right away.

It might be interesting at the very least to hear back from the OP.

I agree.
I would also add this for anyone who thinks Macs are still safe from Malware:

"The DNSChanger Trojan Horse, also known as OSX.RSPlug.A and OSX/Puper, has been found on numerous *pornographic websites* disguising itself as a video codec. Once downloaded and installed, DNSChanger changes the DNS settings on the computer, redirecting websites entered by the user to malicious sites. If personal information is entered on these malicious websites, it can lead to identity theft...."
