iPod Classic Frozen in 'Do not disconnect ' mode and locked

Hi MacMenWomenChildren,

My iPod classic has frozen in 'Do not disconnect' mode...yes it was disconnected causing this to happen. Is there anyway to unfreeze please?

Appreciate the solution if you have had this problem before.

Cheers

Hi Jeff & Cruz

The problem was fixed though not in the way I imagined.
After much fandangle with reset and no joy I passed my iPod to my friend.

Have you both heard of Reiki?

Well, as I passed her the iPod I said Have you had this problem before?

She replied "I've never touched an iPod before...10 seconds later...It's working.

Indeed...I asked her what she did? She said she didn't know....

Keep up the good vibes

Thanks

My ipod just froze yesterday, nothing would get a response, no button, no wheels response, it's been fine for 6 months, still under warranty.

I was about to consult the freeze instructions on this forum when having left my ipod to run down over two days with no power (before it thought it was still charging when it wasn't plugged in and was stuck on an audiobook resume screen- Peter Ustinov actually!) when I noticed at last the screen at gone black.

So I then plugged it back in to the charger and thank goodness I saw the main Apple on the front screen and then the main home menu!! I am now going to leave it to charge up again and assume for now it will be normal again, but for anyone out of warranty it would give me the creeps.

although the unfreeze instructions worked well, at the moment, my itunes now does not recognize the ipod is plugged in to it, no sync, no desktop icon, not opening itunes automatically. So it isn't quite back to normal and if that doesn't work then I will get another one under the warranty hopefully. I have never liked the lack of an on/off button and the wheel/buttons seems rather sensitive and prone to error.

After I managed to unfreeze my ipod yesterday, my itunes wouldn't recognise the ipod. So thinking I might have to go to the Apple store. I shut my Mac down as usual overnight today I thought I will just try to reconnect the ipod again and see. To my amazement the itunes recognised it!!!

So for now the unfreeze worked and the itunes, after shutting down for some hours overnight and using the ipod a little and checking the audiobook wasn't freezing again, resumed reading and syncing the ipod. I just hope it doesn't happen again after warranty.
