I bought a Miglia Mini from Apple (which back then came with Elgato's EyeTV 1 software) for about £90 and we used our iMac G4 1.25GHz 20" as the main television in the house. We've now upgraded to an Intel iMac 24" but the Miglia and EyeTV 2.0 software is still our main television, recording and pausing Freeview and converting content for iPods/DVDs. I can't see us going back to normal TV even though the panels may be bigger.

I've never used the TubeStick myself but have seen the included Media Central software demonstrated at the Bristol & Bath Mac User Group; it looks pretty good for 40 Euro. Hopefully you've got a TV Aerial connection near the iMac as the bundled aerials aren't up to much.
