first thank u for taking the time to try and help me out. i really appreciate it. i have a client that wants a 240 x 160 flv file. i am an FCP guy and export dv ntsc 720 by 480:

'I use Flash video encoder to convert QT to flash and then check it in Real Player for Mac.'

do u mean sorenson squeeze? its $500 right. i was hoping to not spend that much.

'I believe Flip for Mac also has something that will export Flash from FCP and After Effects will convert to Flash as well.'

i have after effects 6.5 and it only exports .swf not .flv

i tried finding info about flip for mac but haven't been able to. are u sure flip 4 mac will allow u to export an flv from FCP?

thanks for taking the time with this.
I have a client that wants a 240 x 160 flv file. i am an FCP guy and export dv ntsc 720 by 480:

'Download a copy of Flash (the trial version from Adobe's site). It will add a quicktime export component that you should be able to access via quicktime pro/final cut/compressor. '

the only free trial i can find on adobe's site is a flash player and it didnt appear to add anything to my QT export options

'If you buy Flash CS4 you get their media encoder that will support f4v - the h.264 version of flash video that the newer player supports.'

is f4v the same as an flv? if i have cs4 can i somehow get my 720 x 480 mov to a 240 x 160 flv

thanks

is there a free app for downloading from youtube. im cheap.

You can do this browser plug-ins. And many of these are, in fact, free. However, I don't bother. You can do it all with Safari with no other "tools".

Browse to the YouTube page where your video lives in Safari. Then go to Safari's "Window" menu and come down to "Activity". (Shortcut is to push ⌘ optionA). This Activity Window is a list of all the items on the page(s) Safari has loaded. You should see one file reference that is much larger than the others. It will be MB's while all the others are going to be KB's. That's the video. Another hint is that the file in question, will be loading and you'll see it counting up the MB's. (Like 4.2 of 6.9 MB's - and the 4.2 would be growing.)

Double-clicking this file in the Activity Monitor should force it to download. (Depending on your version of Safari.) That's how it works for me. It's actually easier done, than said - I think.
