I have the 15" MacBook pro with a wacom cintiq 12WX. This combination works really well and the cintiq screen can be used as extra screen real estate when not using the pen.

Just not really keen on the amount of cabling that exists in order to set up the device. As well as the power supply there is a DVI connection as well as a usb connection. Its only a small grumble but I like to sit and draw with the Cintiq on my lap. Just seems like a lot of cables. Other than that the device works really well. One final thing, best to sit where there is no direct sunlight because you won't see anything on the screen. I tried to use it in my conservatory but that was impossible. You have to sit away from a window.

great drawing tool though. If you can afford it, go for it!

I also have a 15" Macbook Pro and I invested in a Wacom Intuos 3 6x8 tablet. I think it's the perfect size. The smaller ones are harder to work with (for me, anyway), and the bigger ones are just too cumbersome, especially if you travel a lot, which I do.

I wouldn't consider the 15" screen a widescreen, but as far as tablet dimensions being best suitable for this sized laptop, I honestly wouldn't worry too much about it. After you load the software for the tablet, open up the settings (under System Preferences>Wacom Tablet) to customize them to your liking. There will be an option under Tool>Grip Pen>Mapping where you can "Force Proportions." Selecting this option will tell the tablet to comform itself to your moniter screen dimensions and proportions!
