AirPort 2008-003 update: 802.1X connection broken

You might try this. Drag the following three items to the Desktop:

/Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/com.apple.airport.preferences.plist
/Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/NetworkInterfaces.plist
/Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/com.apple.network.identification.plist

If any one of them doesn't exist then drag those that do to the Desktop. Restart the computer. You will need to open Network preferences and reconfigure your settings so be sure to note them down in advance.

No guarantee, but some have reported this fixed the problem with the update.

I had the same problem (network stuff messed up after 2008-003 update). Deletion of the 3 files, restarting and manual deletion and re-addition of the network interfaces has solved the issue for me. Thanks Kappy!

Looks like Apple may have changed the format and/or content of som eor all of these files in a non backward-compatible way?

Confirmed, this fixed the issue for me; I had applied the update before it was pulled, and then after the initial installation restart, could no longer even turn AirPort On; attempting to do so would hang the system for approximately 60 seconds, but then nothing would happen. Removing those files cited (Admin password needed, FYI), a restart, and voila, everything is back up & running fine. I didn't have to re-enter any of my settings, either.
