I am currently running Mac OS X 10.4.11. I am having problems playing mkv files. All my MKV files play very choppy. I have used VLC Player, Chroma (downloaded the perian codec), the latest version of Quicktime, and MPlayer. Supposedly MPlayer should handle MKV files the best but odd enuff it is my only video player that wont even play the file. The other players play the file but the video is very choppy. I have a Powerbook G4 1.33 ghz with 512 mb ddr sdram. I know its an old system but it should be able to play these video files. Can anyone give me a fix for this problem? Your help would be greatly appreciated... Thanks
Are you using the latest version of MPlayer (version 4.1.3 released on 09 Sept 2008)? If not try unistalling the Mplayer package you have and downloading the latest version plus it’s relative codecs package from the official site of the player: http://www.mplayerhq.hu.
Hello thanks for your response, but two things... First how do you uninstall something in the Mac OS environment and second the link you sent is way too technical...I mean the information on the site just goes above my head...Is there a link on that site to just download the latest version of MPLAYER for Mac OS X 10.4.11 and where is the links to necessary codecs and how do i know what the necessary codecs are?
BTW i downloaded something from the USA HTTP link i really cant comprehend what i got. Some more detail would be helpful...
