won't connect to a D-Link router

This is the second DIR-655 router I have - spent many hours on the phone with the D-Link support people before they sent me a second one. It still will not connect wirelessly with my Apple Powerbook G4 running OS 10.3.9 although it will connect to the Windows-based laptops I have. D-Link says contact Apple – HELP!
My 6 year old Linksys connects - but is slow so I wanted to upgrade.
My product research before buying this piece of crap didn't reveal that it wouldn't connect to a Powerbook that connects everywhere other than my home.

I had a similar problem with my dlink router dir-615...try this if you haven't already...on the router, go to manual wireless setup - wireless settings...in the 802.11 mode drop down, choose 802.11g and 802.11b only (that may affect your other connections, but it wasn't an issue for me)...security mode should be wpa only, the next one down should be TKIP only...see if that works, it did for me after talking with dlink support...

Is there a particular reason you need to hang on to that router? I looked it up and it seems to cost as much as an Apple but gets worse reviews. It's one reason that when my D-Link DI-624 start rebooting itself all the time, when I upgraded I went to the Apple router after years of using non-Apple routers with my Mac. All the reviews said it was one of the best, and the D-Link not.

On top of that, over the years I had also bought another D-Link wireless and a D-Link USB hub, and both were unreliable disappointments. So now I've finally learned my lesson - I'm done with D-Link for good.
