DVD player not working since installed leopard 10.5.5

I just installed OS X 10.5.5 to my imac powerpc g5 and DVD player freezes the whole system regardless of what I do. VLC seems to work ok, but the chapters on my homemade DVDs don't work right in VLC. Anyone know of any fixes from apple or others. I'd like a DVD player that works like a real DVD player, like it did on the old system.

What system version did you upgrade from?

i was on leopard 10,5,6 and still the same problem.... this happen when i upgrade to 10.5.5..... upgrade this morning to 10.5.6 and dvd reader stil bugging same thing.... whem i start it says dvd reader detect a systeme failure.... error: "nilP"..... click ok.... and reappear same box with initialisation as happen.... erreur: "nilP"..... so i am using

i use Vlc by this but would like to get back this application...do someone know what to do to get the macdvd reader work well?

Yep, I got this issue. I've searched around for a solution but no-one seems to have one. VLC (0.9.5) doesn't work either- gey audio and black screen. The old 0.8.6 VLC used to work but not with Leopard.
