I have been having this problem for a while and haven't been able to find a solution to it. When I go on to some websites, I am unable to view certain pictures, because a blue square with a question mark appears instead of the picture. I have changed my quicktime settings to allow for still images to be shown (except for PDF's) and I have updated my flashplayer. Also, when I right-click on the picture and select "display in new Tab" the picture is displayed. What settings do I need to change for these pictures to be displayed?

The website that I'm currently having the problem with is: http://www.jack-o-lantern.com/patterns/

Thanks for your help.

I get the same. Most unusual, and evidence of poor programming. Also, at times, I get a 'server down' message'.

I suggest you contact their web master and complain.

But this isn't just their website is it? I can't think of any other examples now, but it seems to happen on a few websites. It's driving me crazy!

Just to cover all bases: in Safari Preferences/Appearance, have you checked the box 'Display images when this page opens'?

    Yes, I have

Can you provide links to others?

For me this is a very rare occurrence and always the fault of the programming of the page.

Safari is doing exactly what it is designed to do... That little blue square with the question mark is an image placeholder that is telling you that it couldn't load the image. Internet Explorer uses a small square with a red x in it and Firefox uses a small ripped page icon. Not much you can do in cases like this except reload, try later, or email the contact person. Considering the content and the time of year it doesn't surprise me that this little site would be busy.
