Surveillance DVR systems for OS X

I am looking for/at Surveillance Video systems using DVR [digital video recording]. The only systems software for these systems that I can find are PC based. [[[ BOOOO. humbug ]]].

1.) Is anyone aware of an Mac OS X based Software system for managing a Surveillance Video DVR setup of cameras, multiplexers, etc. ??? I would like to use our iMac DVD SE (ca. 2000) running OS X v. 10.4. latest for that.

2.) In lieu of that, can an NEW iMac running OS X v.10.5. latest run both Windows and OS X v.10.5. latest SIMULTANEOUSLY ?? If the answer to that is YES -- then I would run the Surveillance software on the Windows ""partition"" and continue using OS X for our usual activities on its ""partition".

I agree with SecuritySpy.

It can manage any number of simultaneous cameras, both direct attached (USB, FireWire, video) and network cameras.
If your cameras are PTV-enabled (Pan, Tilt, Zoom) then you can also rotate and focus your camera through SecuritySpy, too.

It supports motion activation (so you don't record hours of pointless video) and just about everything else you need to run your own CCTV system.

Security Spy has a list of supported/tested network cameras.

I've personally used Axis, Canon and Panasonic cameras with good results. I haven't used any USB/FireWire cameras (other than the iSight, which I don't think counts 🙂 )

Would someone please be so kind as to explain to me how to use this discussion site.
I just signed up & I'm totally lost.
I can't find any way to ask a question & start a new thread.

Yeah, it can be confusing as to where to find the Post New Topic button on this forum.

The reason it's hard to find that Post New Topic link, is because if there are any categories at the top, you must choose one first, like...
