Adapter for Mercedes iPod integration kit to charge iPhone 3G?!

When I got my first iPhone, I was able to charge it in the car using the Mercedes iPod integration kit however this doesn't work with the 3G as there has been some wiring change or something!

So I was wondering if there was a little adapter that would fit in between the cable and the iPhone 3G to enable charging? I'm assuming there's only some pin differences??

Any info welcome.

From what I've seen on the web the internal wiring is different. I've checked out the charger and it looks like it will fill one of three needs - charging the device. Pausing the music and getting the phone to talk to COMAND via a dongle or BT simultaneously appear to not be addressed by the adapter (according to what I've read of the adapter by users). My COMAND will not pause the iPod app in my iPhone 3G when a call is taken or made.

Can any purchasers of the adapter confirm that the iPod app is paused/restored during/after, respectively, a phone call is taken?
