I bought an iMac today and can't seem to be able to sync up to the Mac from the phone. Is this possible? Thanks.

Not sure what your question is.

The music and photo sync are one way syncs. The iphone is not a storage device.

The best thing to do is transfer all info/music/pics from your old computer to your new computer, then sync.

You can do this from Mac to Mac with Migration assistant. If you are moving from a pc, then the Apple Store will do it for you or you could call Apple Care for help.

What happens when you try to sync? Does the iPhone appear in iTunes when connected via USB? What sync options do you have enabled? Also, what sort of information were you hoping to transfer from the iPhone to the computer, and vice-versa?

This article should get you started with the basics: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1386

    Hope this helps,

Thanks for the clarification. I was not aware it was a one way sync street. Was hoping I could use the phone to avoid the PC to Mac drill.

Certainly you can do two directional for contacts/calendars/bookmarks
You can also File > transfer purchases to get the apps and purchased music.

Changing computers too often may corrupt your data. Mobile me is the application intended to keep multiple computers in sync
