Final Cut Pro 6.0.4
PDZKP1 XDCAM Transfer Plug-In for Final Cut Pro 2.7.1 (latest version)
I've searched the forum and no one seems to have this issue and I just spent an hour on the phone with Apple and they had no idea what is going on, so hopefully someone else has had this issue and fixed it easily.
I have this footage shot on the Sony PMW EX 1 (XDCAM EX 1) - I know the footage is fine because I can view it in the CLIP BROWSER program that Sony includes with the camera. Also my producer has successfully imported this footage into his Final Cut set up and he has an identical set up to me, except for being one generation newer on the the Mac Pro.
But here's what happens on my set-up...
_XDCAM Transfer Program (outside of Final Cut)_
Loads up, the folder where the footage is clearly shown on left, countdown of number of clips in that folder, first clip to right says "Building Preview" When the countdown reaches 2 (sometimes 3, sometimes 1 depending on which folder - so its not an issue with any particular clip) the screen freezes for a moment, then the whole applications shuts down with the following error message: "The application XDCAM Transfer quit unexpectedly. Mac OS X and other applications not affected." I can gladly include the "Problem Details" from the "Problem Report" if that'll help but it all looks like gobbledy-gook to me, except maybe this:
Exception Type: EXC BADACCESS (SIGBUS)
Exception Codes: KERN PROTECTIONFAILURE at 0x0000000000000000
You are also supposed to be able to import footage inside Final Cut pro in two different ways, both of which also seem to fail for me...
_File -> Import -> Sony XDCAM..._
This brings up the same screen as the XDCAM Transfer program and it does the same thing, crashing at the same time with the same exact error message.
_File -> Log and Transfer ..._
This brings up a a different window, entitled 'Log and Transfer,' with an empty queue labelled "Name, Volume, Media Start, Media Duration." In the top left of the window is a little folder that you click to "add folder." When I do this, no matter which folder I select, the entirety of Final Cut crashes and I get this error message: "The application Final Cut Pro quit unexpectedly. The problem may have been caused by the SonyXDCAM plug-in. Mac OS X and other application are not affected." It too looks to have that same "Problem Report."
*So what gives*? I've already trashed my Final Cut Preferences, and the XDCAM Transfer preferences. I've repaired disk permissions on the hard drive. I've downloaded the earlier version of the plug-in (2.7) to see if that'll work (same exact reaction),
I'm left out of ideas...
