1960 X 1080 resolution

I recently purchased mac mini to use it with JVC 42" flat tv. Everything is fine so far except that the apple menu in right upper corner is not visible. Also, in Safari and Firefox, the upper menu which contains "file", "edit", "view", and the rest of the functions are not avaiable as well. When I switch to 1024 X 780 resolution, everything is fine.
Does anybody know how I can access these functions in 1960 X 1080 resolution?

imac, power book, mac mini, Mac OS X (10.5.5)

1080p resolution is 1920x1080, not 1960x1080. That's probably the issue there.

That said, that might not be the native resolution of the TV. There are a number of different native resolutions for HDTV. Also, you may have a 720p set, in which case that resolution is 1280x720 (though some 720p sets have a native resolution of 1280x720).

Also, plasma 720p sets in the 37-42" range often have a native resolution of 1024x768. Larger plasmas sometimes have 1366x768 resolution).
