how do I unprotect my music files?

How? Illegally.

If you mean protected AACs with DRM, then you can burn them to audio CD and re-rip them, but any direct attempt to subvert DRM is a violation of the DMCA. Whether or not you agree with that law, we can't discuss illegal activities here.

As Jacob said, you cannot remove the copy protection from tracks purchased from the iTunes Store. All you can do is burn them to audio CD at which point the CD will behave just as does any other audio CD. More than that we cannot discuss since any conversations about getting around the DRM is not allowed here.

I also want to know how to unprotect my songs...i thought i saw something about getting itunes pro to unprotect songs but i dont know. if any ones of any way to unprotect songs then please tell me...after all, we all dont own ipods (thank you very much apple >:( )

I see you're new hear. It looks as if you just read the title of the thread and not the whole thread. If you'd read through, you'd realize that the Terms of Use prohibit discussion of removing the DRM (protection).

Are you referring to tracks you purchased from the iTunes Store? Or tracks you imported yourself from CD?

How are you burning the CDs? Are you creating a playlist in iTunes and clicking the Burn Disc button?

You have the preference set to burn an audio CD, not a data CD?
