Adaptec 4300 fireconnect!!! awesome..

My ipod hasnt been working for quite some time now and having ordered the adaptec from amzon.co.uk (dont even think about doin it they are rubish) i waited for too long then cancelled and ordered from overclockers =D.

The card came today and took me about three minutes to put in then...voila!! no problems, nothing, just how the ipod should work. Im so chuffed and i have to say if your ipod isnt working and you are going through USB- dont!

If you think its not worth spending the money on your wholly wrong. it'll make a **** of a difference so do it =) and youll have your beloved ipod running like clockwork again

Mike,

I do not know what type of firewire card is installed in my machine. I know for sure it is not an Adaptec 4300. My iPod seems to be working fine, I just want to get an expert's advice. You have any?

Um, advice about what? Are you asking me if you should "fix" something that isn't broken? That's usually a very Bad Idea.

Lots of firewire cards will work with the iPod, but those that use the VIA chipset (which is most cheap cards and nearly all onboard firewire) usually won't. We recommend the 4300 because we know it works -- if the iPod still doesn't operate with a working 4300 then it's not the connection that is at fault (could be a bad cable, software, or an iPod, but not the connection).

Sorry if I wasnt specific. I was just wondering if i should stick with my current card, or whatnot. I'm just trying to be precautious, so I dont cause a major problem in the future.

If it helps I do not use the Adaptec 4300 (however, if my iPod stopped working tomorrow that would be the first thing I'd buy).

If it works then be happy and leave it alone. Whilst planning ahead is a good thing sometimes the future problems are best addressed when they happen and not before (ipod being one of them)

David, if you have no problems with your Firewire card, then keep using it. We recommend the Adaptec Fireconnect 4300 because we know it will work.

I myself am using an Adaptec Fireconnect 8300.
