Special character in WPA password

Hi to all
I bought an iPod Touch 2G. I have a problem with the key WPA of my router. Simply the key contains some special characters, in particular the character `
Not being us the possibility of doing the copy paste, I must do everything from keyboard. But the standard querty keyboard has only *', "*, etc. I have find the character that interests me in the Japanese keyboard. But the problem is what when I select the field of the password, the keyboard changes in normal querty and I can not put Japanese one. Is an limitation of the ipod does that not to be able to support characters alienate or do I mistake something? There is another way to insert the configuration WiFi?

That character is not in the normal keyboard configuration and there's no way that I know of to create it or add the key another way. Your best bet is to replace the WPA key with something that you can input into your iPhone. It doesn't take long to change it and it'll take less time than you searching around everywhere for a way to put that character in.

Well, sure, but there are also characters in the permitted range that you can't enter -- such as the ` (decimal 96).

I tried phoning Apple support on this. They weren't very helpful, and suggested visiting an Apple store and talking to a Genius there.

I have the same issue as another poster -- it's not feasible to change the WPA password, so I need to get this entered into the iPhone somehow.

I have a WPA protected WiFi network with several ` (back apostrophe, accent grave, ascii Decimal 96 - part of the printable character set thus a legal character in the WPA password according to the specification) characters in it. I have been quite frustrated trying to get my iPod touch to connect because of the inability to type the ` character on the Touch.

Aside from the lack of Copy & Paste functionality, I figured it would be a 1 time operation so I was willing to endure having to type the password (63 random printable characters).

I tried using the French keyboard layout and holding down the ' key to get the other characters, but the single quote characters which show up do NOT correspond with the ascii decimal 96 - thus it does not work. It would seem to me like a simple fix to the OS for the touch.

Now, because of a what I would consider a significant bug in the iPod touch, I am faced with changing the WPA password on the router, and dealing with changing the password on all the other devices connected on the network. What a pain in the backside!!!

Before I go through the hassle - I am hoping that someone has found a solution... Any help out there?
