Application Icons are gray

Two days ago, I noticed while downloading updates and new apps that the icons, while they were loading/installing are now just a generic gray icon rather than a representation of the actual icon for the app. Has anyone noticed this as well and is something going on with the software on my iPhone?

It sounds like the updates failed in some way I'd probably just start by turning the phone off.

I'd say at the least reset the phone holding the two buttons 10 seconds and remove the problem apps and re-download them (you only have to pay the first time if they are paid apps).

The updates/downloads haven't failed at all; everything is fine. It's just that the icons are now a generic gray as the app or update is downloading and installing. Once installed, they have their proper icons.

I just checked with my roommate who has an iPhone as well and coincidentally his is doing the same thing. And he also remembers the icons not being gray during download either.

Just for the record, the same thing 'Generic Grey Application Icon' appears on the iPod Touch, when downloading / installing new Apps directly to the device. It seems pretty obvious that Apple has made a small change to the process. It does not affect the download in any way and once installed, the correct application icon appears as normal. Nothing to get worried about I'm sure.

I noticed this too but does it really matter? I mean it's gray for a second while it's downloading, then it's just fine, what's the big deal? Especially if it's happening to everyone

Jeez people. The reason I started the post was because I noticed that my iPhone was working in a different way than it had before. Didn't know being attentive was such a problem. Now that I know it's happening to everyone else and that maybe Apple made some changes to the way the App Store works, it's NOT a big deal. How would I know if I hadn't posted here?

There is no big deal, I don't know why so many people are getting stressed out over NOTHING! Save your energy for useful posts, please!

And your post is very useful (sarcasm); accusing everyone who posted here of being "stressed out over NOTHING!"? Read my original post dude; these forums exist for exchanging information. Had I not posted, we wouldn't know this appears to be a normal thing now. If I turned on my Mac and noticed some of my icons were generic, I'd be posting again. Are YOU going to decide which posts are "useful"? PUH-LEASE yourself. Fer Chrissakes, you p * me off!
