iPod Classic- Artwork Problem

Hi

I too have noticed this problem as well. Is this just unique to the ipod classic as I have a Nano 3rd gen and in the split screen the album cover artwork shows up next to now playing. I would appreciate it if someone could answer this.

*Why is artwork not showing on my iPod when it's there in iTunes?*
iTunes will display a cover in many of it's views provided at least one track from the album has embedded artwork. The iPod appears to load only the artwork from track one to create the cover flow and album views which means that it can sometimes fail to display art for albums even when you can see the art in iTunes. Further, when tracks are played on the iPod, artwork is displayed if and only if it exists in the currently playing track, so track one may show art while track two does not.

*How to find tracks without artwork*
To find all the tracks without artwork so that you can update them you can try http://www.stum.de/itunes-find-tracks-without-artwork/ for Windows or http://dougscripts.com/itunes/scripts/ss.php?sp=trackswithoutartwork for Macs. Use Google, Amazon, Discogs etc. to locate relevant jpeg images. Ideally these should be square, 320x320 pixels or above and borderless to give the best results in the various menus. If you have artwork for some tracks of an album, but not others, find the album in the main music folder, select a track with artwork, right-click (Option-Click for Macs) on the art & click copy, then select all the tracks of the album, use CTRL-I or Command-I to *Get Info* and then paste the image into the artwork box.

I say 320x320 because I believe (from using TouchCopy) that it's the size used in the iPod cache so if you're going to crop or resize you might as well work to that size. Otherwise 200x200 is probably good enough.

*Rebuild artwork cache*
Sometimes the artwork cache becomes corrupt and fails to show correct artwork, even when this is properly set up in iTunes. To rebuild the artwork cache, connect your iPod to iTunes. Locate the iPod in the Sources pane on the left-hand side, then select the Music tab. Remove the tick from *Display album artwork on your iPod*, sync the iPod, reselect the option & sync again.

Not really the same problem, but it looks like I can't make a new topic here. I have the following problem:
When I transfer songs to the Ipod, the iPod will only shows those covers at the ipod menu. So I only see the covers at the right side of the menu that I recently added. Why it's not showing all my others covers.

Starting a new thread is easy, you just have to drill down to a specific forum. The Category: iTunes for example lumps together 12 different forums for both Mac & Windows users on various aspects of using iTunes. This is great for users when browsing across the related forums for topics of interest or to which they might contribute. However it is only when you select an individual forum that options to post new topics & questions are presented.

If you are talking about the slide show of covers that displays on the right as you go through the menus then this normally only cycles through about 6 or so images with a new set of images being used when retuning to the menus from some other activity. I don't know what method is used to select the sample images but the behaviour you describe would appear to be normal,

Hi i'm having a problem with the artwork on my ipod classic. I just did a system restore on it and now it won't show any of my album artwork whenever i play the songs with them nor the slid show on the main menu when you highlight "music". The video screen shot artwork won't show up either and the only thing working are the pictures. What could be wrong?

I have also restored ipod and noticed the same problem. I have also tried to check and uncheck display artwork on ipod box whilst syncing after each option but this still doesn't restore artwork under now playing split screen, all I am getting is a music note and the track name and album title showing.

You should disable the *Include artwork* option, allow a full sync to complete, then enable the option and perfom another complete sync.

As for the Menu Item *Now Playing*, as far as I'm aware that only ever shows the musical note with Title, Artist and Album listed underneath. Press Select and it will return to the display with the 3D artwork. It's only Music & Audiobooks that show a slide show of album covers while Videos shows a slideshow of movie & TV show artwork.

I tried the "uncheck and recheck display album artwork" trick but I get an error 50 when it tries to synchronize and only a few artworks shows on my iPod classic 120G. What do I do now?

I've not personally run into -50 erors, but perhaps this support article will help.
