Dec 1, 2008 9:30 AM in response to jordan 572by fmanowhereman, how hard can it be to deliver a set of earphones? It's not like they had to invent them or anything...they likely get a third party to design/manufacture them. -

Dec 2, 2008 6:46 AM in response to jordan 572by fmanowhereman,OK people..they're shipping, so one of you be the guinea pig and order them so you can let us know how good they are and if they work with the iPhone and do it soon (Christmas is coming ) -
Dec 4, 2008 5:21 AM in response to jordan 572by Daniel Truninger,I've found something interesting: http://www.etymotic.com/ephp/er6.aspx
Check these Frequency Responses and compare them with the curve from Apple:

http://www.apple.com/ipod/inearheadphones/
Does Apple create it's own In-Ears based on the ER6?? -

Dec 5, 2008 9:18 AM in response to fmanowheremanby Reuben Feffer,Can someone who has actually seen (or owns) the "Apple Earphones with Remote and Mic" please tell me, is the cable rubberised, sticky and springy like the iPhone 3G earphones? I believe they're anti-tangle, which is why they're springy. Or is the cable smooth and normal, like the classic iPod earphones?

Dec 9, 2008 10:27 AM in response to Reuben Fefferby MacOsX,I just received my headphones from FedEx about 10 minutes ago.
To answer your question, the rubber around the cables feel like the MacBook / MacBook Pro power cable, just softer (more rubbery). For the springiness, I am not sure what that is suppose to feel like.
On another note, the highs and mids are awesome, but next to zero bass. The deep brain rattling bass is non-existent, ****, even the slight thump does not seem to be there either. Who knows, maybe I am spoiled with my inner ear Bose. -
Dec 9, 2008 11:13 AM in response to MacOsXby MacOsX,After tweaking the equalizer on my iPhone and enabling the sound check, sound is way more acceptable. Not too bad. I am enjoying them very much. Volume control would be nice, but at least they work on answering calls and skipping songs, pause and play. Can't have everything. -
Dec 9, 2008 12:14 PM in response to MacOsXby fmanowhereman,...and they're WWAAAYYY better than the stock buds I'm guessing. -
Dec 9, 2008 1:27 PM in response to fmanowheremanby MacOsX,Way, Way better. My only complaint, they should allow you to have more thump without going louder. But so far, very happy. I am not going to go back to my Bose anytime soon. -
Dec 19, 2008 1:45 PM in response to MacOsXby Furtwanglerian,What is this about "volume control would be nice"???
I've ordered the new in-ear model (they haven't shipped yet), and the pages at the online store say "convenient buttons that let you adjust volume" for the new non-in-ear model and "convenient buttons let you adjust the volume" for the new in-ear model.

Are we talking about some different set earphones here? -

Dec 23, 2008 8:43 AM in response to Furtwanglerianby MacOsX,Furtwanglerian,
Yes, we are talking about two different sets of controls.
The set at: http://store.apple.com/us/product/MB770G/A
and the set at: http://store.apple.com/us/product/MA850G/A
They are totally different. Yes, all of the functionality within the first set will work on the iPhone, but the new features in the second set will not work, aka volume control.
I hope this helps. Also, Apple only supports the second set with the iPod, not the iPhone. Look at the bottom of the second links page. -
Dec 25, 2008 10:49 AM in response to MacOsXby Furtwanglerian,The two headphone models aren't "totally different." They're the same as to their controls. They'll both work fully with the new iPod touch (2nd gen), Nano 4g and Classic 120GB.
Apple don't make any claim at all for them with regard to iPhone compatibility -- they seem to be marketed entirely for iPod devices. Happy days then as I have the 2g touch!
Effectively, they differ from each other only as to the earpiece style.
