tried booting with install disc in and pushing "c" on keyboard and doesn't work. Using a apple wireless keyboard. Also used the keyboard that came with Mac Pro but didn't work nor did a wired logitech.

any ideas?

Thanks!

Wired keyboard : If it's the new "aluminium" keyboard, it doesn't work with the mini...

Can you find any other USB keyboard (even from a PC) and try again?

Can you give a bit more history about your Mini?

New, used? Which model? Why you are trying to boot from install disc? Is the disc the same one that shipped with the Mini? etc.

Had to get this fixed and working now.

What is the source of the idea that the mac aluminum keyboard won't work with the mini? That keyboard works on my mini and windows pcs. There was some kind of usb/keyboard firmware update for the keyboard early this year addressing some problems...

On the issue of not being able to boot the install disc, try holding down SHIFT when booting with the install disc inserted in the drive. This will run safe mode and boot from the disc.

Dozens of reports in this forum over the past year.

Keep in mind that by "not working" what was meant was that the startup keys wouldn't work. The Alu keyboard otherwise works fine with the Mini.

It has also been reported that the Alu Keyboard does work for startup keys if it is plugged into a hub with an external power supply.

What do you mean by "startup keys?"

Boece means the keys, such as C or Option which are held down during startup to do things like boot to a MacOS install disk in the optical drive, or to the boot loader screen. These keys don't work when used with the aluminium keyboard.
