"The application Safari quit unexpectedly."
Well, I figured I was an old Mac hand, so I could solve this. My plan was to simply go online to the Apple site with my computer and download the latest version of Safari (for his OS.) Fine. No problem. I then used a FireWire cable to connect the two computers in Target Disk mode, and moved the dmg Safari file over to his computer.
I then followed these instructions for reinstalling Safari on his computer:
copy your bookmarks (Users/username/Library/Safari/Bookmarks.plist to a safe location then trash Safari and reinstall.
Remove the app, the Library folder (Users/username/Library/Safari/), the Caches folder (Users/username/Library/Caches/Safari/), and your Preferences file (Users/username/Library/Preferences/com.apple.Safari.plist).
Do that for every user on the computer, then empty your trash.
That done, I opened the new Safari disk image and reinstalled Safari on his G4. I restarted it. Safari started to open, but ZAP!--I got the same error message again.
So, now, not only can he STILL not open Safari, but I'm demoralized! What do I do now?
Thanks in advance
