playing NFS Most Wanted... sometimes lags

I have the 256MB 8600M... why does Need For Speed Most Wanted lag sometimes when I play it on the highest settings? Also, the highest resolution it has is 1024x768... shouldn't it have 1440x900?

Am I missing something here? I have all the latest software updates and stuff... getting the feeling this video card ***** haha.

Macbook Pro, Mac OS X (10.5.5)

it isn't simply a matter of your video card. it also depends on how much RAM you have.

i would also argue that MBPs aren't the best machines for gaming to begin with.

I have a friend who has a legal version of Windows XP. Should I just install XP via Bootcamp and play Need for Speed there? Gaming on a Mac is starting to **** me off...

tk90,

again, apple never really geared themselves towards gaming to begin with.

i would never buy a mac expecting to do a lot of gaming with it. for that, i'd really just use a console.

Well the main issue is the lag and the game wont support the full resolution on my screen? My 15" MBP is running on 1440x900 but the game will only go up to 1024x768. Any fixes? Where can I get some good NVIDIA drivers for Mac OSX 10.5.5?
