Google-Powered Email: Setting up the Account

I am trying to set up my e-mail on my iPhone but it will not let me because I do not know the server for my e-mail.
All I know is that it is powered by google but it won't let me through with server as "pop.gmail.com"

my email ends with @mymdc.net which is my school email.

Thanks in advance!

Delete the account that you already set up...

Create a new account, choose gmail. Then for your username, put your full email address.

There is no server: impap.gmail.com

Host Name should be: pop.gmail.com
SMTP Server should be: smtp.gmail.com

If you choose to let the iPhone set up the account you don't have to worry about gmail's non-standard ports. It's a lot easier to just create the account again and create it as a gmail account. That's what I did for both of my domain names where I let gmail to the mail hosting.

Gmail can be accessed by imap or pop. When using imap, it is proper to use imap.gmail.com per Google's instructions: https://mail.google.com/support/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=78799

However as long as port is set to 993 it will work. There is no way to set up the google pop or imap machine name, the iphone does that automatically when you select Gmail as your account type.

Using another domain name is a new wrinkle, Can't offer any help on that.

The problem might be on google's end. We have our student email here on our campus powered by google, but we use LDAP to authenticate. The problem is there is a default password on the google's side that cannot be changed. That is why students here cannot access their email with pop or imap until we figure out a way to change the password for their student account on the google side.
