making photos 72 dpi

I need to send some photos, and they have asked for them to be 72 dpi. How do I find out if the photos I have taken and stored in iPhoto are 72 dpi. And if they are not, how do I adjust them.

Thanks for your help..... Dot

When I export it gives me a choice of small, medium, large, and full size. Is "small" the choice I need to send them 72 dpi?

Answer is as before

DPI (dot per inch) is meaningless in a digital file which has only dots - no inches - inches come into play when you print or display a photo - read The Myth of DPI for a complete discussion

Basically if you have a 100 x 100 pixel photo and print (or display) it as a one inch square it will be 100 dpi, same photo displayed ten inches square will be 10 dpi - if you do not have inches you can not have dots per inch

You can make your photos and pixel (dot) size as a part of the export process

I am trying to comply with their instructions.

It is impossible to comply with that instruction (you can use photoshop or photoshop express to set a value of 72 dpi in a photo but it is meaningless as the referenced article explains - did you read it?

You need to know the pixel dimensions needed - or the print size so you can calculate the pixel size - dpi simply does not exist without "inches" - hence dots PER INCH
