How to setup Bluetooth Antenna?

I just bought a bluetooth antenna.

1. I shut the computer off.
2. Plugged in the antenna in the back of the G5.
3. Restarted the computer.
4. Went to SYSTEM PROFILER and under BLUETOOTH, "No information found"
5. I clicked on BLUETOOTH EXPLORER, "No bluetooth hardware found"

Is there something I'm doing wrong?

What module?

I thought the bluetooth was installed in the computer and I needed the antenna to activate it.

There is a hole for the Bluetooth antenna and I can see that it has a place to plug something into it. It's not a blank hole, it actually has a connecter to plug something into it and that's what I plugged my antenna into it. Want me to take a picture and email it?

If the machine had come with the hardware installed, then antenna would have come with the machine and you wouldn't have had to purchase the antenna. In fact, the G5s usually came with the antennas for Bluetooth and AirPort even if the computer didn't have the necessary hardware to support those features.

Are you the original owner or was this a used G5? Where did you buy the antenna - they should be able to supply you with the card as well.

This is what you bought, correct? You still need the module board and the screws.

Yes, that is what I bought.

I bought this G5 from a seller on CL and he told me that the airport/bluetooth is installed and I just needed the antenna and he lost them.

The antenna plugs in perfectly in the back of the G5, its a snug fit, plus that is why I only ordered the antenna because I looked in the back of the computer first and also saw that there was a connecter for the bluetooth and it does look like the hardware is installed.

The photo doesn't change anything - just because the ports are there doesn't mean the module is installed. If you were to open up the machine, you'd likely find wires connected to those ports that either don't go anywhere or go to part of the motherboard where the module would plug in.

My parents' G5 doesn't have AirPort and the plugs on the back are still there.

I don't have a copy of the factory service manual with me to check where the module plugs into the motherboard. The user manual that came with the machine won't tell you, as this isn't considered a user installable part. I can check this evening if I remember. The only way to be absolutely sure is to check inside the machine for the module. The ports on the back don't tell you anything.

The Apple Service Manuals will tell you, but since they're intended for service centers and not the general public, they're not available for download to just anyone. If you look hard enough, you can find them on the internet, though.

Which dual 2.0 do you have? There were four different models with 2.0 GHz CPUs? http://www.everymac.com/systems/apple/powermac_g5/index-powermac-g5.html

I have the service manuals for the original G5 and the Late 2005 model. You definitely don't have the Late 2005 model, but the service manual I have for the original G5 might still show me where the Bluetooth module would go even if you have a later model.
