Yahoo mail is not pushing!!!!! Help

I have the push settings on. But everytime the phone sits around all day, it doesn't push. I have to always open up my mail to get it. Is it Yahoo or the phone's fault????

Do you have the free version of Yahoo or the paid Yahoo Mail Plus? I read that others who have the Yahoo Plus, have the same issues as you. That being said, I have the Plus version and until about 2 weeks ago, all was working well. Now I no longer get an audible alert when (if I get an email from Push) I get emails or I don't get them unless I go to the email on my iPhone. Apple doesn't know what the problem is but it's very frustrating for me.

Given the state of Yahoo, I'd be looking for another solution.

Gmail on a fetch schedule of your choice is far less spam, far more reliable, and you can use imap so you can sync with multiple devices.

I really don't need push, its a big battery drain, and quite frankly hardly need when you have a phone in your pocket, even tho fetch is not reliable right now its likely to get fixed in 2.2.

my 2 mailaccounts are also not pushing. Gmail and a Dutch Pop account.

Never did it from day 1 on my iPhone so being curious I tested both my accounts on a friend's Blackberry and guess what: push worked over there so it's no issue with the mail accounts!!!!

But I don't care to much about this issue too much, just check my mails manually. I'm to fond of the iphone to make the change to blackberry...

I use Yahoo mail pretty religiously and it's been up/down for me as well (all week). After sending an e-mail to their support department, they got back to me rather quickly and explained that they were "working on it". Not long afterwards, it worked fine for a few days. In other words, you're not alone, and it appears that Y! knows about it.

Send an e-mail to their support department (login to Y!Mail, click Help, click Contact Us) and explain that it is not "Pushing" to the iPhone. They will more than likely submit a trouble ticket for you.

PS: Gmail does NOT support Push (despite what others are saying)--you'll have to enable Fetch. I use three accounts on my iPhone (Y!Mail, Gmail, and Charter POP3)...Fetch uses a lot more battery than Push, depending on how often you have it set to fetch new mail; I have mine set at one hour b/c my primary account is Y!Mail, and anything important will come through there if it's not already filtered.

I had a call 3-wk's ago with an APPLE Applications Specialist regarding "PUSH" in general and learned the following:
1. Not all ISP's (in my case Verizon), provide PUSH capabilities.
2. Specialist dropped a few ISP's in the process and I don't believe YAHOO was one that provided PUSH(?) You will need to check with them or READ BELOW on what you can do to check this on your iPHONE...
3. Mobile.Me provides PUSH as does MS Exchange Server's and gmail
4. On a side note, there have been reported issues of "FETCH" not working as it should, whereas, it may not fetch at the selected intervals (15-min, 30-min, 60-min) and APPLE is aware of this

To CHECK and see if your ISP does SUPPORT "PUSH", do the following:
* SETTINGS > FETCH NEW DATA > Scroll down to ADVANCED field > Select the email account(s) field you have activated. (if you have deactivated one of your email accounts, as I do with my MS Exchange when I am in my home office in front of my laptop, you will have to activate it in order to check its PUSH availability out)
... from there, you will note two or three available fields (Fetch; Manual or PUSH), with a check mark by one of them.
... if your email account(s) only show "Fetch" or "Manual" as options, then your ISP does NOT support PUSH (as my Verizon FiOS ISP does not), therefore, you are limited to only "Fetch" capabilities
... if your email account(s) show all three options (Fetch, Manual & PUSH) then your ISP "HAS" PUSH capabilities... as does my business related MS Exchange server does.

I do not use gmail; therefore, only relayed in my previous note what was shared by the APPLE App's Specialist...

My directions on how to determine if one's ISP supports PUSH, should help to at least distinguish whether you should have PUSH available to you. Won't resolve the issue... but your expectations will be set.
Guess that is just another "variable" not mentioned in the "fine-print" of anticipating the value of having PUSH capabilities...
ie. not able to forward SMS messages... specifics of why the 3G iPhone is only 1/2 the price of its predecessor... and the numerous variables which impact the "blazing speed" of 3G access to name a few.
