Quartz Extreme: Not Supported

Hi!

After using my iMac 24" for a while, all of a sudden iMovies and Final Cut Studio refuse to start complaining that the graphics card I have does not support Quartz Extreme.

I definitely could start these apps before and I know that this new iMac is supposed to support Quartz Extreme.
How could I debug this? Waiting for 10.5.6 seems to be too long for my patience.

By "all of a sudden" do you mean that you did nothing to the computer? No updates, no software installs etc?

Check the console log for information.

That's not what I meant.
Did you update anything just before this problem began?
Normally things do not happen on their own. It's usually the last thing we did before the problem started.

I can't pinpoint some specific change, what I'm looking after is how to debug such an issue - can I use the installation CDs to reinstall the Quartz system?

I just had the same thing start happening after I installed the latest iPhoto/Aperture update. Graphics performance has totally disappeared, dragging windows around and scrolling is terribly slow, and QE is showing as not supported.

This just happened with my Macbook I tried to open iMovie and it gave me an error message about my graphics card not supporting quartz extreme. - I rebooted and the problem went away.

I think the problem came from the last time I used my projector I had to use my RCA video adapter and my 2nd monitor resolution was set to 800x600.
