A Mac alternative to Folio Views?

Hello everyone:

I'm using folio views for an old software that's really just a database and folio views is just a db front end (to my knowledge). I was wondering if there was any software that would allow me to use that database on a Mac.

Notice : I don't have a Windows CD, so no bootcamp or Parallel. I really want to get raid of my windows PC and this is the last string holding me back.

I'm new to Macs, but have enjoyed them so much, I just don't wanna use Windows anymore (no troll intended)

Thanks to everyone for reading and responding

There is no native alternative to Folio Views for Mac. I have tried for 7 years to find a solution for running Folio natively in OS X.

Version 4.2 was the last version for Macintosh and it will only run on OS 7-9/Classic. Folio Views is now developed only for Windows. You can run the Windows Folio Views with CrossOver Mac on a Mac-intel. Please note that some Folio Views install discs are "copy protected" and CrossOver cannot access the install data.

SheepShaver could possibly work if someone would ever will get the bugs worked out of the Mac version. Folio will not work in the Mac version of SheepShaver (freezes), but ironically, will work in the Windows version.

Folio Views uses a proprietary format for it's text DB. There have been several professional developers try to find a solution for enterprise but to no avail.

Currently the only way to use Folio Views w/o Classic is to use an emulator or virtualizer solution like VPC or Fusion/Parallels/VirtualBox.

It would help if you would tell us exactly what database application you are using and what "folio views" is. What are you looking for precisely? A Mac database program? If so there are several, but to make a recommendation would require some information on how simple or complex the database application needs to be for your database.

Thanks a lot! I'm a noob in this and i don't exactly know how to get those info...

Folio Views is the software that allows you to read the infobase and annote it (I assumed infobase and database were the same thing, was I wrong?)

It opens a file .nfo ( http://filext.com/file-extension/NFO) and uses .sdw files called shadow files to allow the user to write notes on the db, without editing the master. ( http://www2.law.columbia.edu/instructionalservices/folio/shadow1.html).

This is pretty much what came up during my research. Does it help or do you need more info?

Again thanks for your time and help
