I don't want text message to show up - ?

Hi when I get a text from someone my phone lights up and shows me a brief highlight of who texted me and text.

I want this private. Meaning I want it to ring etc but I don't want a message to show up for other ppl to see who is texting me if I am away from my iphone. Anyway to change this?

Yes by enabling a passcode lock for your iPhone, which you should be using anyway in case your iPhone is lost or stolen, and for unauthorized use of your iPhone when you are away from it.

Go to Settings > General > Passcode Lock.

Turn Passcode Lock on entering your chosen 4 digit passcode.

Select Off at Show SMS Preview.

thanks much. I had the passcode lock on already just didn't realize the SMS lock.

Hey Keano12 ...
--Yes, there's a way to do that. Goto 'Settings' > 'General' > 'Passcode Lock'. Enter a passcode (twice) & a new window will let you turn off the 'Show SMS Preview'.--

Then just turn off the 'Passcode Lock'.
